Everything Here Is Measured in Episodes

Seasons are not the unit here, and that is the first point to get straight, because a short drama is not counted in seasons. The definition on the record is narrow, describing vertical 9:16 series assembled from www.reelshortapp.net episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. TheWrap draws an even tighter band around Western-made episodes, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. The answer rests entirely on whether you mean a single episode or the whole story. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. One episode is shorter than most pop songs. Every total run time below is mine, worked out by multiplying a published episode count by that published episode-length range. Since no app I checked publishes a total run time, nobody can hand you one.

The Counts Run From 30 to 100

Episode length barely changes between titles, while episode counts swing wildly. Over twelve series I was able to check against an official app page, the counts run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. With 30, GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen is the short one, close to the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return tops the list at 100, sitting precisely on the ceiling. The ground between the two is held by ReelShort, which records The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight shows 89 on its ReelShort movie page, and on GoodShort, Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter shows 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out shows 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia shows 86. All twelve added together come to 816 episodes, an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. The finding that matters is the clustering: most short series cluster in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions.

Why Certain Counts Deserve an Asterisk

Whoever quotes an episode count should name the page it came from, since these counts are slipperier than they look. The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband is listed at 60 on its own official page, yet third-party listings for the same show give 49 and 120, neither of which belongs anywhere near a calculation. The same problem turns up for Married at First Sight inside a single site, where the movie page reports 89 episodes and another page for the same series reports 90. Trivial for a viewer, that one-episode gap is fatal for anyone claiming precision. Two of the counts above, True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, so in each case the story proper is one episode shorter. I have left the published figure alone rather than quietly subtracting, because silently adjusting a number is how bad data spreads. Every count is a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.

The Sum, Stated Plainly

So you can redo it or reject it, here is the whole method. Multiply the published episode count by one minute for the floor and by two minutes for the ceiling, and a range falls out. 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours, is what a 60-episode series gives. Applied to the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. A Western-made show falls under TheWrap’s 60-to-100-second band, which narrows things: the same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. None of these figures comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none of them accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. They are estimates built on two published numbers, and I would rather show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.

Twelve Documented Series, Timed

The same multiplication runs across every title above in the table below. The episode counts come from each show’s own app page; the run times are my own. Treat each range as a floor and a ceiling, not a prediction, as real episodes land somewhere inside it. The platform column matters less than people assume, because the format definition is the same on both.

Series title App Episode count Estimated total run time (my own calculation)
My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen GoodShort 30 30 to 60 min
Not the Bride He Wanted ReelShort 57 57–114 min
The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband ReelShort 60 60 to 120 min
True Luna ReelShort 61 including the trailer 61–122 min
Love on the Sidelines ReelShort 64 64–128 min
Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter GoodShort 64 64–128 min
Three Strikes, Dad’s Out GoodShort 65 65 to 130 min
Fated to the Alpha ReelShort 70 70 to 140 min
Breaking the Ice ReelShort 70 including trailer 70 to 140 min
Kidnapped by the Mafia GoodShort 86 86–172 min
Married at First Sight ReelShort 89 as the movie page has it 89–178 min
The Dragon King’s Return GoodShort 100 100 to 200 min

Two things jump out of that last column. Of the twelve, only one could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could stretch past three hours. Everything else is a two-hour film’s worth of story handed over in sixty-odd pieces.

What a Binge Actually Takes

The easy part of the calculation is pure run time, which is also the misleading part. One evening covers a 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. Stack the whole twelve-title table and you get 816 episodes, which by the same multiplication is roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. That total ignores everything between the episodes. The free opening episodes are over quickly, and from there each unlock is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, with ReelShort’s own blog saying one ad unlocks two premium episodes. That rate turns fifty paid episodes into twenty-five ads, and no company publishes how long those ads run, so I am not going to invent a number. Watch short dramas online at a steady pace and the real evening usually runs longer than the arithmetic says. If you would rather buy your way past the interruptions, a weekly pass costs about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.

What Two Minutes Does to the Writing

Length is not a stat here so much as the script’s structure. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer has room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and the reversal has to land on the final shot. That is why a hook arrives before you have settled, and why cliffhangers feel relentless rather than occasional. Production obeys the same clock: TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days. No one schedules leisurely scenes into a ten-day shoot that has to produce seventy of them. The paywall belongs to that shape too: the first eight to ten episodes are usually free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, putting the first real decision point about ten minutes in. So a 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter must seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, chopped into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.

Choosing a Series by Its Length

With the numbers in hand, picking is practical rather than guesswork. For one sitting and a clean finish, counts in the thirties are what you want, which My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. For something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and that is where most short dramas sit anyway. Anything near 100 promises more subplots, and a bill that grows in step. A gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan, which is why you should check the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing before you start. The multiplication is yours to do, because it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. There is the whole trick to knowing how long a short series will really hold you.
